Spectrum Health Services was pleased to host a five week Healthy Cooking Series through Sayre High School’s Nutrition’s Most Wanted Program.
The students, assisted by their instructor Kristen Schwab, taught the weekly classes at the Haddington Health Center in West Philadelphia. They effectively educated our patients from within the community about the importance of good nutrition and how to prepare healthy nutritious foods. This “hands on” class helped to refine the participants’ cooking skills and truly addressed some key nutrition issues. The classes were well attended and enjoyed by all, including children and adults. Sample items prepared included: taco salad, pasta and marinara sauce, chicken caesar salad, rainbow quesadillas and fruit smoothies! We look forward to hosting another series this year!
