In June 2007, Spectrum Health Services purchased the facility at 52nd & Haverford Avenue, formerly known as the Nelson Medical Group, and designated this location as the site for the new 30,000 sq. ft. “Green” Haddington Health Center. The energy sustaining features will include geo-thermal, solar, and water source heat pump systems while providing a more user friendly and patient oriented facility.
It is anticipated that over the next five years, SHS will provide over 60,000 visits in the new Haddington Health Center, and new dental and behavioral health services which are currently not provided. As a major employer in the Haddington community, with the construction of the new site, SHS will increase staff by approximately 50 people.
The new Haddington Health Center will enable Spectrum Health Services to better fulfill its mission to provide an affordable, welcoming medical home to the underserved population of West Philadelphia.
